QMJHL Roundup: Groulx’s four points leads Mooseheads over Sea Dogs

HALIFAX – Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored two goals and set up two more to lead the Halifax Mooseheads in an 8-2 drubbing of the Saint John Sea Dogs on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Otto Somppi had two goals and one assist for Halifax (32-11-6). Jared McIsaac and Maxime Fortier had a goal and two helpers apiece and Connor Moynihan and Kyle Petten rounded out the attack.

Ostap Safin and Robbie Burt scored for the Sea Dogs (12-28-8).

Mooseheads goaltender Alexis Gravel turned away 15 shots. Saint John’s Alex D’Orio made 38 saves.

Halifax went 2 for 8 on the power play while the Sea Dogs were 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

TITAN 4 OCEANIC 3

BATHURST, N.B. — Jeffrey Truchon-Viel scored twice as the Titan edged Rimouski.

Ethan Crossman and Mitchell Balmas also scored for Acadie-Bathurst (27-13-8).

Mathieu Nadeau, Alexis Lafreniere and Denis Mikhnin replied for the Oceanic (30-13-5).

ARMADA 8 OLYMPIQUES 3

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Alex Barre-Boulet and Alexandre Alain each scored twice and added an assist to lift the Armada over Gatineau.

Joel Teasdale, Tobie Paquette-Bisson, Pascal Corbeil and Maxime Collin also scored for Blainville-Boisbriand (34-9-3).

Jeffrey Durocher, Maxim Trepanier and Pier-Olivier Lacombe supplied the offence for the Olympiques (24-19-4).

HUSKIES 10 FOREURS 1

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Alex Beaucage and Mathieu Boucher had two goals and two helpers apiece as the Huskies routed Val-d’Or.

Felix Bibeau also scored twice and added an assist for Rouyn-Noranda (29-12-8) while Peter Abbandonato had a goal and four assists. Alexis Arsenault, Justin Bergeron and Tommy Beaudoin rounded out the offence.

Julien Tessier scored the lone goal for the Foreurs (18-26-4).

VOLTIGEURS 4 REMPARTS 1

QUEBEC CITY — Morgan Adams-Moisan scored twice and added an assist to lift Drummondville over the Remparts.

Connor Bramwell and Joe Veleno also chipped in for the Voltigeurs (32-13-2).

Jesse Sutton opened the scoring for Quebec (25-19-5).

SAGUENEENS 3 DRAKKAR 2

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Vincent Tremblay-Lapalme scored the winner in the third period as Chicoutimi edged the Drakkar.

Vladislav Kotkov and Jeremy Fortin had the other goals for the Sagueneens (18-24-4).

D’Artagnan Joly and Shawn Element had goals for Baie-Comeau (22-23-3).

WILDCATS 4 CATARACTES 3 (OT)

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Mika Cyr had the winner 1:51 into overtime as Moncton rallied past the Cataractes.

Anderson MacDonald, Alexander Khovanov and Jacob Hudson rounded out the attack for the Wildcats (21-21-8).

Jan Drozg, Jeremy Manseau and Alex Plamondon scored for Shawnigan (14-30-3).
