QMJHL Roundup: Islanders edge Screaming Eagles

SYDNEY, N.S. — Kameron Kielly scored two goals, including one on a power play, and added an assist to lead the Charlottetown Islanders to a 5-4 victory over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Friday.

Daniel Sprong and Filip Chalpik had a goal and an assist apiece for the Islanders (2-0-1) and Alexandre Goulet also scored.

Kyle Farrell led the Screaming Eagles (2-1-0) with a power-play goal and two assists. Julien Pelletier and Jason Bell had a goal and an assist apiece and Maxim Lazarev added the other Cape Breton goal.

Daryl MacCallum stopped 30 shots in the victory. Miguel Sullivan shouldered the loss after making 19 saves.

WILDCATS 3 MOOSEHEADS 0

HALIFAX — Alex Dubeau made 29 saves as Moncton blanked Halifax.

Christophe Lalonde scored an empty-net goal with 20 seconds left, and assisted on the two other Wildcat (2-1-0) goals. Eric Leger and Will Smith scored on the power play.

Kevin Resop made 21 saves for the Mooseheads (1-2-0), who failed to score on four power-play opportunities.

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Nathan Noel scored twice, including a short-handed empty-net goal in the final minute to lift Saint John over Acadie-Bathurst for its first win of the season.

Olivier LeBlanc, Mathieu Joseph and Mark Tremaine also scored for the Sea Dogs (1-1-1), who were 2 for 9 on the power play.

Gabriel Gosselin scored for the Titan (1-2-0), who were blanked on nine chances with the man advantage.

QUEBEC CITY — Dmytro Timashov scored two goals and assisted on two more, and goaltender Callum Booth stopped 44 shots as the Remparts doubled up Baie-Comeau.

Guillaume Gauthier had two goals and an assist, Adam Chapman had a goal and three assists, and Zachery Moody also scored for Quebec (1-2-0).

Jasmin Boutet, Dmitry Ambrozheichik and Maxime St-Cyr scored for the Drakkar (2-1-0), who lost for the first time this season.

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Louick Marcotte scored twice, including the eventual winner midway through the third period, and Nicolas Lachance stopped 30 shots as Gatineau edged Blainville-Boisbriand.

Yakov Tenin had a goal and an assist for the Olympiques (2-0-1), and Felix Paquet also scored.

Emil Aronsson led the Armada (0-2-1) with a goal and an assist while Philippe Sanche and Tyler Hylland rounded out the Blainville-Boisbriand offence.

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Ryan Penny scored a goal and assisted on another as the Huskies broke a three-game losing streak to claim their first win of the season.

Quinn O’Brien, Mathieu Lemay and Francois Perron also scored for Rouyn-Noranda (1-3-0), which was 2 for 5 on the power play. Justin Guenette chipped in with two assists.

Sherbrooke (2-1-0) lost for the first time this year. Tim Wieser scored the only Phoenix goal and Evan Fitzpatrick made 34 saves.

Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 15 shots for Drummondville (2-1-0).

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Chase Marchase stopped 36 shots and the Tigres scored three times in a seven-minute span en route to their first win of the season.

Angelo Miceli scored a goal and assisted on another, and Antoine Marcoux, Jordan Ty Fournier and Anthony Beaulieu also scored for Victoriaville (1-1-1).

William Gignac scored both goals for Chicoutimi (1-2-0), while Julio Billia made 31 saves.
