QMJHL roundup: Meier, Mooseheads down Sea Dogs

HALIFAX _ Timo Meier had two goals and four assists as the Halifax Mooseheads beat the Saint John Sea Dogs 8-5 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Danny Moynihan scored twice and added three assists while Cavan Fitzgerald had two goals and two assists for the Mooseheads (12-16-4). Andrew Shewfelt and Maxime Fortier rounded out the attack.
Luke Green scored a hat trick for Saint John (18-12-2), which also got a goal and two assists from Matt Murphy. Daniel Del Paggio also chipped in.
Eric Brassard made 31 saves for the win. Alex Bishop started for the Sea Dogs but was pulled after kicking out 22-of-29 shots in 41:03. Marc-Antoine Turcotte went the rest of the way, turning aside 5-of-6 shots.
Halifax scored once on six power plays while Saint John was 2 for 9.
Kelly Bent of the Mooseheads and Bokondji Imama of the Sea Dogs were both ejected at 17:54 of the second period after receiving aggressor penalties. Halifax’s Taylor Ford also received a game misconduct on the play for fighting after the original altercation.

TITAN 5 VOLTIGEURS 2
BATHURST, N.B. _ Mark Simpson’s power-play goal late in the second period stood as the winner as the Titan downed Drummondville.
Vladimir Kuznetsov, Jordan Maher, on the power play, Daniil Miromanov and Guillaume Brisebois rounded out the attack for Acadie-Bathurst (11-19-3).
Emanuel Aucoin and Philippe Pelletier-Leblanc found the back of the net for the Voltigeurs (16-17-0).

SCREAMING EAGLES 3 OCEANIC 2 (SO)
SYDNEY, N.S. _ Phelix Martineau scored the decisive goal in the shootout as the Screaming Eagles edged Rimouski.
Michael Joly also found the back of the net in the shootout for Cape Breton (18-13-3) and struck twice in regulation.
Charles-Edouard D’Astous and Dylan Montcalm supplied the offence for the Oceanic (19-10-3).

WILDCATS 4 ISLANDERS 1
CHARLOTTETOWN _ Zack MacEwen scored the first of three-straight goals in the second period for Moncton as it toppled the Islanders.
Noah Corson and Cameron Askew, on the power play, also had goals in the second for the Wildcats (21-10-4). Alexandre Coulombe added an empty netter.
Filip Rydstrom opened the scoring with a short-handed goal in the first period for Charlottetown (12-17-3).

REMPARTS 4 SAGUENEENS 2
QUEBEC CITY _ Charley Graaskamp had two goals and two assists as the Remparts doubled up Chicoutimi.
Nikolas Brouillard and Auguste Impose both had a goal and assist each for Quebec (19-12-3).
Jonathan Bourcier and Nicolas Roy scored for the Sagueneens (13-15-4).

PHOENIX 8 DRAKKAR 2
SHERBROOKE, Que. _ Julien Pelletier scored twice and added an assist as the Phoenix routed Baie-Comeau.
Carl Neill and Daniel Audette had a goal and three assists each for Sherbrooke (13-15-5). Jack Kilgour, Kevin Gilbert, Nicolas Poulin and Vincent Deslauriers supplied the rest of the offence.
Matt Jones and Fabrizio Ricci found the back of the net for the Drakkar (5-23-2).

HUSKIES 5 CATARACTES 4 (OT)
ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. _ Allan Caron scored the winner in overtime as the Huskies slipped past Shawinigan.
Jacob Neveu, Jean-Christophe Beaudin, Mathieu Boucher and Alexandre Fortin had goals in regulation for Rouyn-Noranda (25-3-4).
Alexis D’Aoust had a goal and two assists for the Cataractes (21-9-2), who also got goals from Brandon Gignac, Justin Bernier and Jonathan Fillion.

FOREURS 4 OLYMPIQUES 1
VAL-D’OR, Que. _ Anthony Beauregard struck twice as the Foreurs got past Gatineau.
Shawn Ouellette-St-Amant and Jan Mandat also chipped in for Val-d’Or (23-7-3).
Elie Berube opened the scoring in the first period for the Olympiques (21-9-2).
