QMJHL Roundup: Nicolas Guay overtime hero as Voltigeurs top Remparts

QUEBEC — Nicolas Guay scored 2:39 into overtime as the Drummondville Voltigeurs edged the Quebec Remparts 2-1 on Friday in a matchup of two of the best teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Cedric Desruisseaux scored for the Voltigeurs (8-3-1) in regulation time. Olivier Rodrigue made 32 saves for the win.

Luke Kirwan was the lone scorer for the Remparts (8-3-1), while Dereck Baribeau turned away 21 shots.

Drummondville went 0 for 4 on the power play and Quebec was 1 for 5 with the man advantage.

The Voltigeurs sit second in the West Division while the Remparts remain in first in the East.

TIGRES 3 DRAKKAR 2 (SO)

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — James Phelan had the only goal in the shootout as the Tigres sank Baie-Comeau.

Ivan Kosorenkov and Felix Boivin scored for Victoriaville (6-4-1) in regulation time.

Ivan Chekhovich and Bradley Lalonde replied for the Drakkar (5-6-1).

Baie-Comeau’s Gabriel Fortier was given a match penalty for boarding at 7:56 of the second period.

WILDCATS 3 SAGUENEENS 2

MONCTON, N.B. — Jeremy McKenna had the eventual winner in the second period as the Wildcats held off Chicoutimi.

Dylan Seitz and Anderson MacDonald rounded out the attack for Moncton (9-2-2).

Ryan Smith had a pair of goals for the Sagueneens (3-6-2).

OCEANIC 5 PHOENIX 2

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Denis Mikhnin scored twice, including the winner, as Rimouski defeated the Phoenix.

Parker Bowman, Carson MacKinnon and Alex-Olivier Voyer also scored for the Oceanic (7-3-1).

Thomas Gregoire and Hugo Roy scored for Sherbrooke (6-4-3).

Rimouski’s Yannik Bertrand was given a match penalty for boarding at 8:52 of the second period.

FOREURS 3 OLYMPIQUES 2

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Adam Cheezo’s power-play goal in the second period stood as the winner as the Foreurs eked out a win over Gatineau.

David Henley and Maxim Mizyurin also scored for Val-d’Or (5-5-1).

Mitchell Balmas and Vitalii Abramov scored for the Olympiques (4-4-2).

HUSKIES 4 TITAN 1

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Rafael Harvey-Pinard scored and added two assists as the Huskies downed Acadie-Bathurst.

Peter Abbandonato had the power-play winner for Rouyn-Noranda (7-1-3) at the 8:16 mark of the third period. Justin Bergeron and Tyler Hinam also scored.

Jeffrey Truchon-Viel scored for the Titan (5-4-4).

Acadie-Bathurst’s Keenan MacIsaac was given a match penalty for slashing at 18:23 of the third.

MOOSEHEADS 4 ARMADA 2

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Otto Somppi had a hat trick as Halifax doubled Blainville-Boisbriand.

Xavier Parent had the winner for the Mooseheads (7-3-2) at 5:04 of the third period.

Alexandre Alain and Jan Hladonik scored for the Armada (8-3-0).
