QMJHL Roundup: Ouellet, Kozlov star in shootout as Foreurs top Huskies

ROUYN NORANDA, Que. — Nicolas Ouellet and Ivan Kozlov scored in the shootout as the Val-d’Or Foreurs edged the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 4-3 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Ouellet also scored in regulation time for Val-d’Or (3-4-1), while Zachary Gladu and Simon Lafrance chipped in as well.

William Cyr, Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Tommy Beaudoin scored for the Huskies (5-2-1). Beaudoin scored in the shootout for Rouyn-Noranda.

Etienne Montpetit made 34 saves for the win. Zachary Emond kicked out 19 shots for the Huskies.

The Foreurs went 1 for 3 on the power play and Rouyn-Noranda was 0 for 4.

SCREAMING EAGLES 4 MOOSEHEADS 3

SYDNEY, N.S. — Phelix Martineau’s short-handed goal in the third period was the winner as Cape Breton eked out a win over Halifax.

Jordan Ty Fournier, Ryan Francis and Drake Batherson also scored for the Screaming Eagles (6-4-0).

Filip Zadina struck twice for the Mooseheads (4-3-2), while Connor Moynihan also scored.

ISLANDERS 4 TITAN 3

BATHURST, N.B. — Samuel Meisenheimer scored twice, including the third-period winner, as Charlottetown slipped the Titan.

Sullivan Sparkes and Matthew Grouchy pitched in for the Islanders (2-6-1).

Adam Holwell, Justin Ducharme and Jeffrey Truchon-Viel supplied the offence for Acadie-Bathurst (4-3-3).

PHOENIX 3 VOLTIGEURS 1

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Yaroslav Alexeyev put away the game-winning goal in the third period as the Phoenix defeated Drummondville.

Mathieu Olivier and Hugo Roy also scored for Sherbrooke (4-3-3).

Robert Lynch was the lone scorer for the Voltigeurs (6-2-0).

REMPARTS 3 OCEANIC 1

QUEBEC CITY — Philipp Kurashev’s winner came at the 14:52 mark of the third period as the Remparts stayed in first place in the QMJHL with a victory over Rimouski.

Jeremy Laframboise and Matthew Boucher also scored for Quebec (8-1-0).

Alexis Lafreniere had the only goal for the Oceanic (4-3-1).

CATARACTES 6 TIGRES 3

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Samuel Guilbault had a pair of goals, including the eventual winner, as the Cataractes dispatched Victoriaville.

Samuel Blier, Vasily Glotov, Gabriel Denis and Antoine Demers also scored for Shawinigan (1-7-1).

Chase Harwell, Jimmy Huntington and James Phelan scored for the Tigres. (5-2-1).

ARMADA 4 OLYMPIQUES 3

GATINEAU, Que. — Alex Barre-Boulet struck twice as Blainville-Boisbriand beat the Olympiques.

Barre-Boulet’s power-play goal at 11:14 of the third was the winner for the Armada (6-1-0). Charles-Antoine Giguere and Alexander Katerinakis also scored.

Giordano Finoro, Charles-Antoine Roy and Anthony Gagnon replied for Gatineau (3-2-1).

DRAKKAR 4 SAGUENEENS 1

CHICOUTIMI, Que. –Jordan Martel had the game-winning goal early in the third period as Baie-Comeau fended off the Sagueneens.

Shawn Element, Gabriel Fortier and Simon Chevrier also scored for the Drakkar (5-4-0).

Samuel Houde was the lone scorer for Chicoutimi (2-5-1).
