QMJHL roundup: Phoenix take down the Cataractes

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Julien Pelletier had two goals and two assists to lead the Sherbrooke Phoenix past the Shawinigan Cataractes 4-1 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Guillaume Gauthier and Kay Schweri also scored for Sherbrooke (11-9-4), which got 28 saves from Evan Fitzpatrick.

Dennis Yan gave the Cataractes (18-5-1) an early lead with a goal in the first period. Antoine Samuel turned away 29 shots in net.

The Phoenix converted on three of their 10 power-play opportunities, with Shawinigan going 0 for 2.

TITAN 3 ISLANDERS 2

CHARLOTTETOWN — Daniil Miromanov scored the winner early in the third period as Acadie-Bathurst came back to beat the Islanders.

Nicholas Blanchard and Christophe Boivin, on the power play, evened the game at 2-2 for the Titan (9-14-2) in the second.

Oliver Cooper, on the power play, and Alexandre Goulet opened the scoring for Charlottetown (11-10-3).

GATINEAU, Que. — Carl Marois scored twice and added an assist as Victoriaville powered past the Olympiques.

Pascal Laberge also struck twice for the Tigres (11-9-3), including once on a penalty shot. Jimmy Huntington and Felix Lauzon added the others.

Vitalii Abramov scored his 13th of the season late in the first period for Gatineau (14-8-2).

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Jonathan Bourcier had a hat trick as the Sagueneens downed Drummondville.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau and Zachary Lavigne also chipped in for Chicoutimi (10-11-2).

Michael Carcone found the back of the net for the Voltigeurs (13-12-0).

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Bronson Beaton scored twice and added an assist as Quebec toppled the Drakkar.

Matthew Boucher struck twice while Dmytro Timashov had a goal and three assists for the Remparts (13-10-2). Ross MacDougall had the other.

Fabrizio Ricci and Vincent Lavoie scored for Baie-Comeau (3-17-1).

SCREAMING EAGLES 7 WILDCATS 5

MONCTON, N.B. — Maxim Lazarev had two goals and an assist as Cape Breton got past the Wildcats.

Pierre-Luc Dubois also scored twice for the Screaming Eagles (11-11-3). Jordan Ty Fournier, Yannik Bertrand and Jonathan Deschamps rounded out the attack.

Kelly Klima and Cameron Askew both struck twice for Moncton (15-7-2). Liam Murphy supplied the rest of the offence.

FOREURS 5 OCEANIC 4

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Nicolas Aube-Kubel had two goals and an assist as the Foreurs came back to beat Rimouski.

Adam Cheezo and Alexis Pepin scored in the third period for Val-d’Or (15-7-3). Julien Gauthier also chipped in.

Dylan Montcalm struck twice for the Oceanic (13-9-1), with Simon Bourque and Samuel Laberge rounding out the attack.

SEA DOGS 3 MOOSEHEADS 2 (OT)

HALIFAX — Ottawa Senators prospect Thomas Chabot scored late in overtime as Saint John slipped past the Mooseheads.

Sam Povorozniouk and Kyle Ward gave the Sea Dogs (14-9-1) a two-goal advantage.

Andrew Shewfelt and Taylor Ford scored for Halifax (8-13-4) to even the scoring and force extra time.
