QMJHL roundup: Tigres top Sagueneens in wild one

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Samuel Blais scored twice and Gabriel Gagne chipped in with three assists as the Victoriaville Tigres downed the visiting Chicoutimi Sagueneens 7-5 on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Mathieu Ayotte had a goal and two helpers for the Tigers (15-12-5) while Pascal Laberge, Felix Meunier, Maxime Comtois and Bradley Lalonde added a goal and an assist apiece.

Dmitry Zhukenov led the Sagueens (14-16-4) offence with two goals and an assist. Marc-Antoine Masse, Frederic Allard and Antoine Marcoux added the others.

Victoriaville’s Olivier Tremblay made 25 saves for the win as Xavier Potvin turned away 23-of-29 shots for Chicoutimi.

The Tigres went 2 for 5 on the power play while the Sagueneens scored three times on six chances with the man advantage.

TITAN 2, ISLANDERS 1

BATHURST, N.B. — Vladimir Kuznetsov scored the eventual winner at 16:46 of the third period as the Titan held off Charlottetown.

Chirstophe Boivin also chipped in for Acadie-Bathurst (12-19-3).

Oliver Cooper responded late in the third on the power play for the Islanders (13-18-3).

VOLTIGEURS 3, MOOSEHEADS 2 (OT)

HALIFAX — Jeremy Way-Gagnon scored his first goal of the season at 2:12 of overtime as Drummondville edged the Mooseheads.

Alex Barre-Boulet struck twice for the Voltigeurs (17-18-0) in regulation.

Danny Moynihan and Maxime Fortier found the back of the net for Halifax (12-16-5).

WILDCATS 4, OCEANIC 3 (OT)

MONCTON, N.B. — Austin Kosack scored the winner at 4:56 of overtime to lead the Wildcats past Rimouski.

Conor Garland had a goal and two assists in regulation for Moncton (22-10-4). Cameron Askew and Liam Murphy added power-play goals.

Tyler Boland and Raphael Bastille had goals with the man advantage for the Oceanic (19-10-4), with Anthony Chapados rounding out the attack.

Wildcats defenceman Zachary Malatesta received a game misconduct at 11:57 of the second period for boarding.

ARMADA 4, DRAKKAR 1

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Yvan Mongo struck twice as Blainville-Boisbriand handed the Drakkar their eighth straight loss.

Tyler Hylland and Miguel Picard also scored for the Armada (12-16-6).

Chad Pietroniro kept Baie-Comeau (5-24-2) from getting blanked.
