QMJHL Roundup: Wildcats storm back to stun Titan

BATHURST, N.B. — Cameron Askew scored in overtime as the Moncton Wildcats erased a four-goal deficit in a 5-4 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday.

Liam Murphy, Manuel Wiederer, Adam Capannelli and Zachary Malatesta also scored for the Wildcats (2-2-0), who trailed 4-0 after the first period.

Matthew Waite started for Moncton but was pulled 6:55 into the game after surrendering three goals on eight shots. Keven Bouchard stopped 32-of-33 shots in relief.

Vladimir Kuznetsov, Luc Deschenes, Felix Boivin and Christophe Boivin scored for Acadie-Bathurst (2-1-1). Reilly Pickard stopped 34 shots.

After falling into a 4-0 hole, the Wildcats scored all their regulation goals in the second.

The scoring dried up in the third despite the Titan shelling Bouchard with 18 shots in the period.

Moncton outshot Acadie-Bathurst 6-0 in overtime before Askew completed the comeback.

ISLANDERS 9 MOOSEHEADS 2

CHARLOTTETOWN – Filip Chlapik had three goals and an assist to lead the Islanders over Halifax.

Pascal Aquin had two goals for Charlottetown (4-1-0), while Kameron Kielly, Jake Coughler, Cody Donaghey and Guillaume Brisebois also scored.

Otto Somppi and Connor Moynihan scored for Halifax (2-2-0).

ARMADA 3 DRAKKAR 1

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Jeremy Roy scored the game-winning goal on a power play and added an assist as the Armada downed Baie-Comeau.

Alexandre Alain and Morgan Adams-Moisan also scored for Blainville-Boisbriand (1-3-0).

Vincent Deslauriers opened the game’s scoring for the Drakkar (1-2-0).

OCEANIC 7 VOLTIGEURS 3

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Tyler Boland had a goal and three assists and Simon Bourque set up four goals as the Oceanic thumped Drummondville.

Denis Mikhnin had two goals and an assist for Rimouski (3-1-0), while Samuel Laberge, Carson MacKinnon, Hunter Moreau and Justin Pare also scored.

Frederic Aube, Alex Barre-Boulet and Nathan Hudgin scored for the Voltigeurs (2-1-0).

CATARACTES 3 PHOENIX 2 (SO)

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Tommy Lemay scored twice in regulation, then had the deciding goal in the shootout as Shawinigan topped the Phoenix.

Mikhail Denisov stopped 41 shots for the Cataractes (4-1-0).

Hugo Roy and Julien Pelletier scored for Sherbrooke (1-2-1). Evan Fitzpatrick made 38 saves.

SAGUENEENS 5 REMPARTS 4

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Nicolas Roy had a goal and two assists to lead the Sagueneens over Quebec.

Frederic Allard and Zachary Lavigne had one goal and one helper apiece for Chicoutimi (1-3-0) and Julie Carignan-Labbe and Ryan Verbeek also scored.

Aaron Dutra led the Remparts (2-2-0) with a goal and an assist. Andrew Coxhead, Louis-Filip Cote and Derek Gentile rounded out the offence.
