QMJHL: Sagueneens even series with Wildcats

MONCTON, N.B. — Nicolas Roy’s second goal of the game midway through the second period stood as the winner as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens took Game 2 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League first-round series on Sunday with a 3-2 win over the Moncton Wildcats.

Roy opened the scoring in the first with a power-play goal for the Sagueneens, who evened the series at a game apiece. Laurent Dauphin also scored on the power play.

Ivan Barbashev and Jacob Sweeney both chipped in with goals on the man advantage for Moncton.

Julio Billia turned aside 30 shots for the win while Alex Dubeau stopped 33 shots for the Wildcats.

Chicoutimi was successful on both its power-play opportunities while Moncton went 2 for 7.

The series moves to Chicoutimi, Que., on Wednesday for Game 3.
