QMJHL: Screaming Eagles cruise by Wildcats

SYDNEY, N.S. — Loik Leveille scored twice in the second period as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles flew past the Moncton Wildcats 7-3 on Wednesday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Phelix Martineau and Maxim Lazarev both had a goal and an assist for Cape Breton (4-2-1). Cole Reginato, Evgeny Svechnikov and Anthony Sorrentino also scored. Alexandre Belanger made 26 saves for the win.

Conor Garland had a goal and two assists for Moncton (5-2-0), while Zack MacEwen and Cameron Askew also scored. Zachary Fortin started in net for the Wildcats, stopping 16-of-21 shots in 32:40 of work. Sebastien Dupre turned aside 8-of-12 shots in relief.

It was an undisciplined game, with the Screaming Eagles racking up 52 penalty minutes. Moncton earned 48 penalty minutes.

Cape Breton went 2 for 7 on the power play, while the Wildcats were 1 for 8 with the man advantage.
