GATINEAU, Que. — The Gatineau Olympiques and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League are conducting an internal investigation in the wake of a report of indecent acts allegedly involving some of the hockey club’s players.
According to a report in Ottawa’s Le Droit newspaper, as many as a half-dozen Olympiques players were involved in an incident with a woman in a Boston Pizza bathroom last Friday.
"The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Gatineau Olympiques organization take the situation reported in the media very seriously," a joint statement from the league and team said. "There will be an internal investigation and a process will be established for next steps."
Gatineau police spokesman Jean-Paul LeMay said police received a complaint about indecent acts that allegedly took place at a Boston Pizza.
He would not confirm Olympiques players were involved in the case.
LeMay said it was not a sexual assault complaint and no charges have been laid in the case. He added that the investigation is ongoing and many witnesses still need to be interviewed.
The Olympiques, meanwhile, embark on an Atlantic Canada road trip beginning on Friday in Moncton.
