Quinney leads Raiders to win over Hitmen

CALGARY — Gage Quinney scored the eventual winner on a power play late in the second period to lift the Prince Albert Raiders to a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Hitmen in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday.

Reid Gardiner opened the scoring for Prince Albert (13-13-0).

Travis Sanheim replied for the Hitmen (13-10-3), tying the game 1-1 eight minutes before Quinney’s goal.

Raiders goalie Rylan Parenteau made 17 saves in the victory. Calgary’s Evan Johnson turned aside 19 shots in the losing effort.

WARRIORS 4 BLADES 2

SASKATOON — Brayden Point and Jack Rodewald scored power-play goals to give Moose Jaw the edge over the Blades.

Jaimen Yakubowski added an empty netter with 13 seconds to go, and Tanner Jeannot also scored for the Warriors (11-12-3), who got out to a 3-0 lead before giving up two goals.

Ryan Graham and Brett Stovin replied for Saskatoon (7-17-1).

HURRICANES 4 GIANTS 0

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Stuart Skinner made 37 saves and Jamal Watson struck twice as the Hurricanes blanked Vancouver.

Jaeger White had a goal and as assist for Lethbridge (6-15-4), which picked up its first win in 10 games, and Andrew Nielson rounded out the Hurricanes’ offence.

Cody Porter stopped 30 shots for the Giants (9-17-0), who have lost five straight.

EDMONTON — Cole Benson and Dysin Mayo had a goal and an assist apiece and Patrick Dea made 31 saves as the Oil Kings powered past Swift Current.

Brett Pollock and Brandon Baddock also scored for Edmonton (13-10-4).

Colby Cave had the lone goal for the Broncos (14-10-4).

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Morgan Klimchuk scored twice as Regina topped the Cougars.

Connor Gay had a goal and an assist for the Pats (14-10-1) and Sergey Zborovsky and Adam Brooks also scored.

Jari Erricson and Jared Bethune replied for Prince George (13-14-0).

CHIEFS 4 ROYALS 2

SPOKANE, Wash. — Calder Brooks had a goal and two assists to lead the Chiefs past Victoria.

Adam Helewka scored one goal and helped on another, and Jason Fram rounded out the Spokane (12-7-3) offence. Kailer Yamamoto chipped in with three assists.

Greg Chase and Austin Carroll found the back of the net for the Royals (14-12-2).

SILVERTIPS 2 BLAZERS 1

EVERETT, Wash. — Brayden Low’s power-play goal at 9:41 of the first period proved to be the difference as the Silvertips edged Kamloops.

Carson Stadnyk opened the scoring for Everett (16-4-3), which has won seven of its last 10 games.

Collin Shirley replied for the Blazers (11-11-5), with a power-play goal at 10:01 of the second period.

ROCKETS 4 AMERICANS 1

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Rourke Chartier struck twice as Kelowna downed Tri-City.

Tyrell Goulbourne had a short-handed goal and an assist for the Western Conference-leading Rockets (21-2-3), and Tyson Baillie also scored.

Beau McCue had the lone goal for the Americans (14-10-0).
