The Lethbridge Hurricanes have fired head coach Drake Berehowsky.
The Western Hockey League team made the announcement on its website. Berehowsky was in his second season behind the Hurricanes bench. The 42-year-old from Toronto was hired in June, 2013. Lethbridge sits at the bottom of the Central Division at 6-19-4. Berehowsky played 549 games in the NHL for Toronto, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Vancouver and Nashville before retiring in 2006.
Wednesday the team also announced that general manager Brad Robson had been relieved of his dutues as well.
“Going forward and seeing where we were at as an organization felt a change was necessary that was in the best interest of our players, shareholders and fans moving forward,” said Lethbridge Hurricanes board president, Doug Paisley, in a press release issued by the team.
Peter Anholt has been named general manager and head coach.
