Rubtsov leads Russia past OHL all-stars in Canada-Russia series

Russia coughed up a 3-1 lead but eventually beat the OHL 4-3.

NORTH BAY, Ont. – German Rubtsov scored twice to lead Russia past a team of Ontario Hockey League all-stars 4-3 on Thursday in the third game of the annual Canada-Russia series.

Dmitry Sokolov had the winner for Russia at the 13:58 mark of the third period, ending a comeback by the OHL. Kirill Urakov opened the third with a goal to give the Russians a 3-1 lead at the 5:26 mark of the period. Vladislav Sukhachev made 27 saves for the win.

Anthony Cirelli and Adam Mascherin scored for the OHL all-stars in the first 10 minutes of the third to tie it 3-3. Michael McLeod had a goal in the first. Evan Cormier stopped 22 shots in net.

Russia went 0 for 3 on the power play and the OHL was 2 for 6 with the man advantage.
