On Wednesday the Saskatoon Blades announced the details for a “Thank You, Mr. Hockey” day that will be held on September 25.

The event will honour Floral, Sask. native and NHL icon Gordie Howe, who died on June 10. It will include a private ceremony, public festivities at the Sasktel Centre and an appearance from play-by-play legend Bob Cole.

During the Blades’ game that afternoon against the Swift Current Broncos, the team will also honour Howe by wearing special Mr. Hockey tribute jerseys.
