WHL playoffs: Winterhawks stars step up in Game 3

PORTLAND, Ore. — Oliver Bjorkstrand had a pair of goals and Nicolas Petan scored once and set up two more as the Portland Winterhawks downed the Everett Silvertips 5-3 on Wednesday in Game 3 of their Western Hockey League second-round playoff series.

Dominic Turgeon and Anton Cederholm also scored for the Winterhawks, who lead the series 2-1, while Chase De Leo and Miles Koules each tacked on two assists.

Graham Millar, Kevin Davis and Ivan Nikolishin supplied the offence for the Silvertips, who trailed 5-0 late in the third period before finding the back of the net three times in a span of 1:47.

Portland’s Adin Hill made 16 saves for the win. Carter Hart started in net for Everett and allowed four goals on 34 shots in 52:16 of action. Austin Lotz came in late and stopped 1-of-2 shots in relief.

The Winterhawks went 2 for 5 on the power play while the Silvertips failed to score on either of their chances with the man advantage.

Game 4 goes Friday in Portland.
