WHL Roundup: Glenn Gawdin’s 4 points lift Broncos over Rockets

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Glenn Gawdin scored twice and added two assists as the Swift Current Broncos downed the Kelowna Rockets 5-1 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Matteo Gennaro, Kaden Elder and Logan Barlage also scored for the Broncos (24-7-2), who won their fourth straight game. Logan Flodell made 37 saves for the victory.

Liam Kindree responded for the Rockets (18-11-3), who got a 27-save outing from James Porter.

Swift Current went 1 for 4 on the power play while Kelowna scored once on eight chances with the man advantage.

RAIDERS 3 HURRICANES 2

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Ian Scott made 28 saves as the Raiders handed Lethbridge its third straight loss.

Curtis Miske, Brett Leason and Jordy Stallard scored for Prince Albert (13-13-7).

Jake Elmer struck twice for the Hurricanes (14-15-2). Reece Klassen kicked out 29 shots in defeat.

HITMEN 6 OIL KINGS 1

CALGARY — Riley Stotts scored twice and Nick Schneider made 35 saves as the Hitmen toppled Edmonton.

Vladislav Yeryomenko, Jakob Stukel, Andrei Grishakov and Cael Zimmerman also scored for Calgary (10-17-4).

Davis Koch kept the Oil Kings (7-21-3) from being shut out. Boston Bilous turned aside 18 shots in a losing cause.

BLAZERS 3 PATS 0

REGINA — Dylan Ferguson stopped 42 shots as Kamloops blanked the Pats.

Garrett Pilon scored the winner 17 seconds into the game for the Blazers (15-16-1), who also got goals from Luc Smith and Nolan Kneen.

Max Paddock kicked out 38-of-41 shots for Regina (16-15-2).

AMERICANS 6 TIGERS 3

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Morgan Geekie had three goals and an assist as Tri-City doubled up the Tigers.

Michael Rasmussen had a pair of goals while Isaac Johnson rounded out the offence for the Americans (16-10-3). Beck Warm made 24 saves for the win.

David Quenneville, Ryan Chyzowski and James Hamblin found the back of the net for Medicine Hat (17-13-2). Michael Boullion stopped 22-of-22 shots in defeat.
