WHL Roundup: Hart stops 19 as Silvertips double up Cougars

REGINA — Caleb Jones scored the winner at 4:05 of overtime and Michael Bullion made 47 saves as the Portland Winterhawks topped the Regina Pats 5-4 on Wednesday night in Western Hockey League action.

Keoni Texeira tied the game for Portland (7-3-0) on the power play late in the third period. Colton Veloso, Evan Weinger and Lane Gilliss rounded out the attack.

Adam Brooks struck twice for the Pats (4-0-3) with Sam Steel and Filip Ahl adding power-play goals. Tyler Brown stopped 46 shots in net.

The Winterhawks were 1 for 5 on the power play while Regina scored twice on six opportunities.

BLAZERS 6 CHIEFS 1

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Ondrej Vala and Dawson Davidson each had a pair of goals to lead the Blazers past Spokane.

Nolan Kneen and Collin Shirley also scored for Kamloops (4-5-0) and Quinn Benjafield tacked on three assists. Connor Ingram made 29 saves.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan opened the scoring on the power play for the Chiefs (2-4-0). Dawson Weatherill took the loss after turning away 13-of-18 shots in 30:02. Jayden Sittler went the rest of the way and stopped 16 shots.

HURRICANES 5 ROYALS 2

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Giorgio Estephan had two goals and an assist while Egor Babenko also struck twice as the Hurricanes downed Victoria.

Brayden Burke had a goal and two assists for Lethbridge (5-2-1) and Stuart Skinner made 36 saves.

Jack Walker and Jared Dmytriw scored for the Royals (4-5-0). Griffen Outhouse turned away 19-of-23 shots in 44:07 before giving way to Dylan Myskiw, who stopped three shots.

SILVERTIPS 6 COUGARS 3

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Riley Sutter struck twice and Patrick Bajkov had a goal and two assists as Everett got past the Cougars.

Graham Millar, Kevin Davis and Brett Kemp rounded out the attack for the Silvertips (6-1-1). Carter Hart made 19 saves.

Sam Ruopp, Brogan O’Brien and Aaron Boyd found the back of the net for Prince George (8-2-0). Nick McBridge stopped 8-of-13 shots in 22:51 while taking the loss. Ty Edmonds went the rest of the way and turned aside 13 shots.
