WHL Roundup: Morrison scores OT winner as Cougars edge Giants

LANGLEY, B.C. — Brad Morrison set up the tying goal late in the third period, then scored the overtime winner as the Price George Cougars edged the Vancouver Giants 4-3 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League action.

Morrison found the back of the net 1:58 into overtime. He assisted on Brendan Guhle’s tying goal 19:18 into the third.

Jansen Harkins and Jesse Gabrielle had a goal and an assist apiece for Prince George (19-6-2).

Ty Ronning and Radovan Bondra each scored a goal and assisted on another for the Giants (10-16-2), who have lost six straight. Matt Barberis scored the other on a power play.

Cougars goaltender Ty Edmonds stopped 19 shots for the win. Vancouver’s Ryan Kubic made 42 saves in the losing effort.

TIGERS 4 RAIDERS 1

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Zach Fischer had a goal and two assists to lead the Tigers over Prince Albert for their 10th straight win.

Steven Owre and Chad Butcher each scored one and set up another and John Dahlstrom rounded out the offence for Medicine Hat (21-5-1).

Cole Fonstad had the lone goal for the Raiders (5-19-1), who have dropped eight in a row.
