EVERETT, Wash. — Joshua Winquist scored twice and set up one more as the Everett Silvertips edged the visiting Spokane Chiefs 3-2 on Sunday in Western Hockey League action.
Winquist’s second goal of the night, which was his 36th of the season, came at the two-minute mark of the third period and put his club ahead 3-1.
Matt Pufahl had a goal and an assist for the Silvertips (27-21-8), who avoided their third straight loss, while Austin Lotz turned away 16 shots for the win.
Marcus Messier and Riley Whittingham scored for the Chiefs (32-19-5) and Garret Hughson made 23 saves in a losing cause.

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. –Eetu Laurikainen made 24 saves for his fourth shutout of the season as the Broncos blanked Brandon.
Brycen Martin had a pair of goals for Swift Current (28-21-8) while Nathan Burns’ shorthanded goal early in the second period stood as the winner.
Curtis Honey stopped 32-of-35 shots for the Wheat Kings (28-21-6), who trail the Broncos by two points for top spot in the East division.
Brandon’s Jesse Gabrielle picked up 19 minutes in penalties, including a minor for instigating, a major for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct when the final buzzer sounded to end the game.
