WHL Roundup: Zajac scores OT winner for Blades

SASKATOON — Captain Nick Zajac scored a minute into overtime as the Saskatoon Blades edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-5 on Monday night in Western Hockey League action.

Ryan Graham had a pair of goals — including one late in the third period to force overtime — for Saskatoon (23-33-4), which has won four games in a row. Nikita Soshnin, Cameron Hausinger and Terrell Draude rounded out the attack for the Blades, while Brock Hamm made 39 saves for the win.

Nolan Patrick had a hat trick for Brandon (37-18-5), while Tanner Kaspick and Reid Duke also scored. Logan Thompson started in net for the Wheat Kings, stopping 17 of 21 shots in the first two periods of play. Jordan Papirny turned aside 5-of-7 shots he faced in relief.

Neither team could score on its one power-play opportunity.
