WHL: Zborosky lifts Ice past Oil Kings in OT

EDMONTON — Zak Zborosky scored twice — including in overtime — to lead the Kootenay Ice past the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-4 on Monday night in Western Hockey League action.

Captain Luke Philp had a goal and three assists for Kootenay (3-11-1), while Matt Alfaro and Jason Wenzel also scored. Zborosky also had a pair of assists.

Tyler Robertson led Edmonton (3-7-3) with two goals and an assist. Brandon Baddock and Aaron Irving chipped in as well for the Oil Kings, who saw their winless streak stretch to seven games.

Wyatt Hoflin made 30 saves in net for the Ice. Alec Dillon stopped 12-of-14 shots in the first 20 minutes of play for Edmonton, while Patrick Dea turned aside 10-of-13 shots the rest of the way.

Kootenay scored once on four power plays, while the Oil Kings were 2 for 4 with the man advantage.
