Zykov helps Drakkar down Armada, take Game 2

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Valentin Zykov assisted on the eventual winner and then added an insurance goal into an empty net as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar downed the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 3-1 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League post-season action.

Baie-Comeau now leads their playoff series 2-0.

Charles Hudon opened the scoring for the Drakkar at 2:07 into the first period and Dominic Poulin added the winning goal just over two minutes later on a play started by Zykov.

Christopher Clapperton opened the scoring for the Armada just 41 seconds into the game.

Baie-Comeau’s Philippe Cadorette made 23 saves for the win while Blainville-Boisbriand’s Etienne Marcoux kicked out 29-of-31 shots in a losing cause.

FOREURS 4 MOOSEHEADS 2

HALIFAX — Louick Marcotte scored once and set up three more and Antoine Bibeau stopped 31 shots as Val-d’Or doubled up the Mooseheads to take a 2-0 series lead.

Samuel Henley, Randy Gazzola and Guillaume Gelinas had a goal and an assist apiece for the Foreurs.

Jonathan Drouin and Brendan Duke supplied the scoring for Halifax while MacKenzie Weegar assisted on both of his club’s goals.

Zachary Fucale gave up four goals on 19 shots before giving way to Kevin Darveau, who stopped the only shot he faced in 12:50 minutes of relief.
