The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Kevin Marshall from the Washington Capitals on Thursday in exchange for Nicholas Deschamps.
Marshall, a 6’1”, 201-pound defenceman from Boucherville, Que., has five points in 52 games this season for Washington’s American Hockey League affiliate in Hershey, Pa.
Originally a Philadelphia Flyers second-round draft pick (41st overall) in 2007, he has eight penalty minutes and zero points in 10 National Hockey League games – all with the Flyers in 2011-12.
Deschamps, a 23-year-old forward, has scored seven goals and 16 points in 50 games this season for the Toronto Marlies. The Maple Leafs organization originally acquired him in a Jan. 3, 2012 deal with the Anaheim Ducks for Luca Caputi.
Marshall will report to the Toronto Marlies.
