Actor Joe Manganiello to host NHL Awards on June 21

Charles Barkley sits down to chat with Scott Oake about the Predators’ road to the Stanley Cup Final and his first hockey game in Nashville.

Actor Joe Manganiello has been named host of the 2017 NHL Awards.

The show takes place live from Las Vegas on June 21 and will honour the top performances from the 2016-17 season and reveal the players chosen by the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft.

Manganiello, known for roles in the show True Blood and movie Magic Mike, will host the awards portion of the night. Sportsnet’s Daren Millard and NBC’s Kathryn Tappen will host the expansion section of the show.

“This year, the pairing of the NHL Awards with the NHL Expansion Draft required a host with an equal balance of enthusiasm, energy and appreciation for the game, and we found that in Joe,” said NHL chief content officer and executive vice president Steve Mayer in a release.

“I’m incredibly honoured and excited to be sharing a stage with so many all-time and current NHL superstars to celebrate the greatest players in the game today,” said Manganiello.

The 2017 NHL Awards can be seen in Canada on Sportsnet on June 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
