Gotta See It: Ovechkin gets birthday sheep, not ship

Since his 2005-06 rookie season, Alexander Ovechkin has been one of the bright stars in the NHL. Check out some of his career highlights in the past 10 years.

Despite reports to the contrary, Alex Ovechkin did not receive a ship for his 30th birthday.

No, the rich don’t always get richer. Sometimes they just get rural.

After being misquoted that he had been given a ship as a b-day gift, the Washington Capitals‘ captain clarified Friday that it was indeed a sheep (think: Shaun The). One that baaas and grows its own wool and wears a Team Russia jersey.

Ah, those undecodable Russian accents.

There is even video proof of the sheep gift-giving.

“It’s [at] my country house right now,” the star told reporters at training camp. “It’s kind of funny.”

The sheep, which was given to Ovechkin by a Moscow-based TV network, is named Russia.
