After three games, Alex Semin has as many goals in the KHL this season as he had in 15 games with the Montreal Canadiens.

One. One goal.

The former NHLer agreed with the Canadiens earlier in December to terminate his NHL contract, opening the door for Semin to join the KHL. Saturday, he scored his first goal in his third game with Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Boy, there sure is a lot of open ice in that KHL.

The Habs, meanwhile, have been in a bit of a tailspin as of late with just 15 goals in the their last 10 games.

Semin scored 17 points in 20 games with Torpedo of the KHL in 2012-13 during the last NHL lockout.

With the lede now officially buried, can we all now appreciate that the red goal light in the KHL flashes directly onto the ice in the net? Goalies getting a sunburn during a bad game used to be an exaggeration.
