Auston Matthews will not join his team for its tilt against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday after being characterized as “bumped and bruised” by head coach Mike Babcock.

Matthews collided with teammate Morgan Rielly during the Leafs’ 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, taking contact to the chin and leaving the ice hunched over.

The 20-year-old pivot did remain in the game, getting a couple more shifts as Toronto held on for the victory.

Forward Josh Leivo will slot into the lineup as the Leafs shuffle their lines against Edmonton.

Matthews has 13 goals and 26 points through 26 games this season.
