The Colorado Avalanche will be without defenceman Tyson Barrie for four to six weeks as the blueliner needs surgery on his broken hand.

Barrie suffered the injury in Saturday’s 6-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes after blocking a shot.

The 26-year-old is in the midst of his best statistical season as a pro. Barrie is currently tied for second in league scoring among defencemen with 27 points through 34 games.
