Barclays Center trademarks two hockey logos

Rest assured, purist hockey fans. These are not going to be the official logos of the New York Islanders when they take up residence in Brooklyn next season…at least not yet.

Barclays Center ownership, Brooklyn Events Center, LLC, trademarked two hockey logos earlier this month. The logos could be used for promotional or display purposes in the arena, where the Islanders will play home games beginning in 2015-16, but there is no indication the Islanders will adopt the designs.

The recently trademarked logos are in line with other generic designs registered by Barclays Center.

Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark has said in the past that the Islanders will have a third jersey design with a similar colour scheme to the arena’s NBA inhabitants, the Brooklyn Nets.
