CHICAGO — Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp underwent a surgical appendectomy Monday night, the team said in a release.
Blackhawks head physician Dr. Michael Terry said in a statement that Sharp underwent the procedure to have his appendix removed after experiencing "some abnormal abdominal discomfort."
Terry said he expected Sharp to make a full recovery in three to four weeks.
Sharp, from Thunder Bay, Ont., is one of the Blackhawks’ top offensive producers. He had 34 goals and 37 assists in 74 games last season.
