Blackhawks sign defenceman Cody Franson to one-year deal

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenceman Cody Franson to a one-year contract.

Franson joined the Blackhawks on a professional tryout agreement, and earned a deal in camp.

His contract is reportedly worth $1 million.

The 30-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, scoring three goals and 19 points in 68 games in 2016-17.

He’s also spent time in Toronto and Nashville during his eight-year NHL career.
