Chicago Blackhawks forward Tommy Wingels sustained a left foot fracture during his off-season training, the team announced on Friday.

Dr. Michael Terry, the Blackhawks’ head team physician, said the injury Wingels should heal in time for training camp.

Wingels signed a one-year deal with Chicago as an unrestricted free agent this summer.

He suited up briefly for the Ottawa Senators in 2016-17 after getting shipped to the Canadian capital mid-season. Before that, Wingels logged four-and-a-half campaigns with the San Jose Sharks, posting a career-best 16-goal, 38-point effort back in 2013-14.
