The Columbus Blue Jackets placed defenceman Jack Johnson on injured reserve Friday.
The veteran blue-liner is expected to miss two weeks with an upper-body injury suffered in Thursday night’s win over the New Jersey Devils. He has six goals and eight assists in 60 games this season.
Columbus has recalled defenceman Michael Paliotta from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League to fill in for Johnson.
Paliotta was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer in the same deal that brought forward Brandon Saad to the Blue Jackets.
The 22-year-old is playing in his first professional season, and has put up seven goals and 14 assists in 50 games with the Monsters so far. He could make his NHL debut Saturday against the Atlantic Dvision-leading Florida Panthers.
