St. Louis Blues forward Alexander Steen is expected to miss at least the first week of the regular season because of an injury to his left hand.

The Blues announced that Steen suffered the injury Tuesday night during a game in Dallas and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. The Blues’ first regular season game is Oct. 4 in Pittsburgh.

Steen, 33, had 16 goals and 35 assists in 76 games last season.

The Blues announced Tuesday that defenceman Jay Bouwmeester has a fractured ankle and forward Zach Sanford has a shoulder injury. Bouwmeester, too, will be re-evaluated in three weeks, while Sanford is out five to six months.

Centre Patrik Berglund is also sidelined until December as he recovers from off-season shoulder surgery.
