Blues trade defenceman Leopold to Blue Jackets

The St. Louis Blues have traded defenceman Jordan Leopold to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

In return, the Blues will receive a fifth-round draft pick from the Blue Jackets in 2016.

In seven games so far this season, Leopold has been held pointless, with a plus/minus rating of even.

The 34-year-old has spent parts of his 12 year NHL career with the Blues, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames.

General Manager Doug Armstrong announced that the team will be recalling defenceman Chris Butler from the Chicago Wolves shortly.

In 14 games with the Wolves, Butler, 28, leads the team’s defence with eight assists.
