Bobby Ryan the OT hero as Senators top Maple Leafs

Bobby Ryan scored 21 second into overtime and the Ottawa Senators defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs.

SASKATOON — Bobby Ryan scored the power-play winner 21 seconds into overtime to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 exhibition victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.

Derick Brassard and Matt Puempel also scored for the Senators.

Byron Froese and Kasperi Kapanen replied for the Maple Leafs in front of a crowd of 13,094.

Craig Anderson made 31 saves in goal for the Senators. Frederik Andersen turned away 12-of-13 shots starting in goal for the Leafs. Antoine Bibeau stopped 2-of-4 shots after entering the game at the start of the third period.

The Leafs return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Montreal to play the Canadiens. The Senators close their pre-season schedule on Friday at home against the Buffalo Sabres.
