Boston Bruins defenceman Andrew Ference will face a disciplinary hearing with the NHL’s department of player safety Thursday at 2 p.m. ET following an incident that occurred during Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at TD Garden.
Ference was not given a penalty after elbowing Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski in the head during the first period of the teams’ first match of their opening-round playoff series.
Grabovski was shaken up after the hit and went to the dressing room as per the NHL’s concussion protocol. He later returned to the game.
Asked by reporters about the elbow after the game, Ference said he didn’t know what play they were talking about. Bruins coach Claude Julien had no comment on the elbow.
