Bruins’ Hamilton out indefinitely with injury

Dougie Hamilton was traded to Calgary on Friday.

The Boston Bruins’ playoff hopes took another hit Tuesday with news of defenceman Dougie Hamilton set to remain out of the lineup indefinitely.

Hamilton was injured during the Bruins’ shootout loss to the Florida Panthers Saturday, and he missed Monday’s meeting with the Tampa Bay Lightning with an undisclosed ailment. The Bruins lost to the Lightning 5-3.

Hamilton leads Bruins defencemen in scoring and is second in team scoring behind Patrice Bergeron. The 21-year-old has 10 goals and 42 points in 72 games this season.

The Bruins fell out of the current playoff picture Monday night after the surging Ottawa Senators overtook the second Eastern Conference wild card spot. The Senators have 85 points to the Bruins’ 84, with one game in hand as well.
