Bruins’ Jonas Gustavsson placed on IR, Subban recalled on emergency basis

BOSTON — The Bruins have placed goalie Jonas Gustavsson on the injured list and recalled goaltender Malcolm Subban from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis.

Boston general manager Don Sweeney said Monday that Gustavsson is waiting to be cleared for full participation by the medical staff.

Gustavsson started in the Bruins’ 6-2 loss to Anaheim on Jan. 26 was taken to a hospital with an undisclosed illness. The team later said it was for observation.

The 31-year-old Gustavsson has appeared in 15 games for Boston this season. He has a 9-3-1 record, 2.38 goals-against average and.915 save percentage.

The Bruins also recalled forward David Pastrnak from Providence. He and Subban joined the team Monday.
