Injuries continue to plague the Boston Bruins.
The team announced on Wednesday that defenceman Adam McQuaid will be out of the lineup for 6-8 weeks with a broken thumb.
McQuaid was averaging 19:25 minutes per night, which is more than three full minutes than his average from a season ago.
The Bruins remain without the services of perennial Norris Trophy candidate Zdeno Chara, who continues to recover from a knee injury.
