Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta was released from the hospital Wednesday after he was hit late in the first period by Mike Brown of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
The Sabres revealed Kaleta is at home and will not be traveling to Boston for the team’s game against the Bruins Thursday night.
Despite the controversial nature of the hit, Yahoo! Sports reports that there will be no disciplinary hearing for Brown.
No NHL hearing for #Leafs Mike Brown on hit that sent Kaleta to hospital. Makes sense: Kaleta turned late, Brown’s hit wasn’t nasty. #Sabres

Kaleta, who has a history of head and neck problems, was boarded by Brown in the Sabres’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Leafs. Brown was assessed a penalty on the play and Kaleta did not return.
Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said after the game he didn’t feel Brown’s hit was dirty.
“I thought he was sideways,” Ruff said. “Some of the obligation is on the player (being hit). He wasn’t defenceless. It’s a tough area. It wasn’t a blatant (example of) run a guy from behind.”
In five games this season, Kaleta has no points, five shots on goal and a plus-1 rating to go along with 18 penalty minutes.
