Calgary Flames shore up goaltending, sign Chad Johnson

The Calgary Flames have filled their backup goaltending role.

The Flames signed free agent Chad Johnson to a one-year contract worth $1.7 million. He will back up new acquisition Brian Elliott.

Johnson played a career-high 45 games last season with the Buffalo Sabres, posting a .920 save percentage and 22-16-1 record.

The 30-year-old Saskatoon native has also played with the Rangers, Coyotes, Bruins and Islanders.
