Sometimes, results at the NHL Scouting Combine can surprise. A player you’d expect to blow the competition away may follow up with less than stellar power numbers. Conversely, a smallish player may surprise with his totals.
Here, we’re taking a look back at the 2006 Combine and, specifically, the anaerobic and aerobic results for six players: Jonathan Toews, Claude Giroux, Phil Kessel, Milan Lucic, Jordan Staal and Nikolai Kulemin.

In each graph below, we list six drills. The first four show results from the Wingate, an anaerobic test that can measure strength and power — the last two drills show results of the VO2 max, an aerobic event that measures endurance.
Each graph shows the results for one mystery forward, above the average, best and worst results among all forwards for context. See if you can guess how each of these six players tested. Answers at the bottom.
