Ales Hemsky had a rough first period and would exit the game after taking two big hits.

Montreal Canadiens forward Ales Hemsky was knocked out of Friday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks with an upper-body injury.

Hemsky took a couple of hard hits in the first period, and the 34-year-old did not return to the ice after the second collision.

He signed a one-year, $1-million contract with the Canadiens this summer, and entered Friday with no points in six contests.
