Montreal Canadiens prospect Mikhail Sergachev had to leave his team’s rookie tournament game on Sunday with an upper-body injury.
The ninth overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft was hit from behind by Ottawa Senators prospect Vincent Dunn after playing the puck into the Senators corner.
Sergachev already had two assists in the game, as well as two minor penalties, before being taken out by Dunn.
The 18-year-old had 17 goals and 40 assists with the OHL Windsor Spitfires last season, and could contend for a spot on Montreal’s blue line this season.
Dunn was assessed a boarding penalty for his hit.
