Pacioretty hospitalized after late, brutal hit

Watch as Canadiens Max Pacioretty gets hit from behind by Ducks' defenceman Clayton Stoner and goes head-first in to the boards.

Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty didn’t return to Thursday’s game because of an injury he sustained receiving a hit against the Anaheim Ducks.

Pacioretty was hit into the boards in the third period by Ducks defenceman Clayton Stoner and needed to be helped off the ice.

There was no penalty called on the play, although Stoner later fought Montreal’s Brandon Prust. After the game, Pacioretty went to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Pacioretty had one shot on goal in just over 14 minutes of the Canadiens 2-1 loss to the Ducks.
