Canadiens place defenceman Brandon Davidson on waivers

Brendan Gallagher had two goals and an assist to get the Canadiens a 6-3 win over the Red Wings.

The Montreal Canadiens have placed defenceman Brandon Davidson on waivers, the team announced on Saturday.

As Eric Engels reported on Thursday, the team was looking to trade the 26-year-old, who has one assist in 13 games this season.

The Lethbridge, Alta., native was acquired by Montreal from the Edmonton Oilers at last season’s trade deadline in exchange for forward David Desharnais.
