The Montreal Canadiens have recalled forward Jacob De La Rose from the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps, the team announced Wednesday.

The 20-year-old is expected to join the team for Friday night’s game against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Canadiens needed a forward after losing Brian Flynn for six to eight weeks with a lower-body injury suffered in Tuesday night’s win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

De la Rose was drafted 34th overall in 2013 and won a silver medal with Team Sweden at the 2013 World Junior Championships. He has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 30 games with the IceCaps this season

He’s played in 36 career NHL games, scoring four goals and adding two assists.
