MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have recalled defenceman Mark Barberio from the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League.

Barberio is third on the IceCaps with 20 points (two goals, 18 assists) in 26 games.

The Canadiens say the 25-year-old Montreal native will join the team Sunday for their game at Tampa Bay.

Barberio was selected by the Lightning in the sixth round (152nd overall) of the 2008 NHL draft.

He had six goals and 11 assists in 103 games with Tampa Bay before signing a one-year, two-way contract the Canadiens before this season.
